If you are in the Adirondack Mountains, make a trip to the The Wild Center in Tupper Lake New York 🙌 It is hands down one of the best we have visited! Not only is it affordable, it has something for everyone. We spent 4 hours exploring a fraction of what they offer. From tree top board walks, suspension bridges, nesting boxes, hiking trails, educational exhibits and animal rehabilitation enclosures.
I was given a complimentary stay/tickets to help facilitate my review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way, All opinions are my own.
When you come into the building on the Wild Center you will see a huge education area. The very first exhibit is a replication of the Ice glaciers that made the Adirondack Mountain area. This area is perfect for homeschooling, educational classes or just to take your family.
We all enjoyed the educational displays within the Wild Center because they were “hands on”. From examples of habitat to actual animals that are being talked about throughout this area. I just love the combination of interacting and learning. We spent a good hour just walking, reading, exploring and enjoying the wildlife.
Let us talk about the otters. My favorite area because they just hold a special place in my heart. This exhibit it large with a waterfalls and two playful otters. I could spend all day just watching them play, swim etc.
There are several hiking trails around the Wild Center for you to enjoy. We decided to take a walk around the pond first. The lupins were in fill bloom ya’ll! I just loved all the blooms and wildlife. Perfect for families to enjoy and they even have a fun “music in the woods” trail.
Throughout your walking you will also see art. I love the mix medias within and around the property. The views alone are worth a trip here seriously. You can just grab some snacks and watch birds, butterflies, dragonflies etc.
The Stickwork and wild walk is probably are favorite area. Journey into the treetops on their wooded trails to enjoy nature and views. You can see Mountains, they have a spider web kid jump and a bald eagle nest replica (pictured above). A little something for everyone and perfect for all ages. I just love areas like this because you can stop grab some snacks at their café and enjoy as a family together. We stopped to grab some snacks before we explore and let me tell you the staff are gems! They are helpful, sweet and had us laughing. Not to mention the snack prices were SUPER affordable.
I would describe this place as an animal refuge mixed with a Audubon feel. It truly is worth all of the hype to come visit. They have ambassador animals and so many great educational touches that it makes learning fun for all ages! Grab a picnic basket and put this on your next trip itinerary!
