“Not all people feel they need to have wilderness, but I do. If things go bad and everything seems to go wrong, the best place to go is right into the remote wilderness, and everything’s in balance there.” Let’s escape to the Adirondack Mountains for the weekend.
Our school year is almost coming to an end but boy did we need a break. When we had an opportunity to escape up North; we jumped at the chance. I usually share our accommodations on my travel post and this one is no different. We stayed at the beautiful Saranac Waterfront Lodge. Our room had a lake view and was 10/10. Sunrises and Sunsets are spectacular here and “oh those Mountains”.
I was given a complimentary stay/tickets to help facilitate my review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way, All opinions are my own.
I can see why people get married on the lake here because everything is truly centrally located. From Kayaks to Mountains view excursions, you can literally book everything from the comforts of the front desk or online. We enjoyed our double queen beds and the HOT TUB ya’ll! It was the largest one I have ever been in. I promise to do a FULL review in the coming week. Let’s talk about the area and things you can do with your friends and family.
To start us off we booked an early morning Scenic Flight with Adirondack Aviation. Pilot Mike took really good care of as we embarked on our journey. They have a few other options if you are interested in booking with them. My son and I truly loved our flight around the Adirondack Mountains. We got to see Lake Placid because my son sure has an interest in that whole area due to hockey. We also got to an over view of the Saranac Lake, perfect area for camping if your into that.
Since we stayed at the Saranac Waterfront Lodge, we decided to take out a few kayaks. We timed it pretty well viewing a wedding. It was a beautiful day and super family-friendly. Just hop on down to their little kayak booth and book them. The boats on Lake Flower were super kind to us and just slowed passed us. Pack a lunch and do little paddle around, highly recommend.
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Lake Placid, New York since it is so close. We were invited a few years back to the I Love NY Horse Show. From off road vehicles to pure breed horses we had so much fun at that event. Lake Placid hosted Olympics in an epic historical time period. If you are into hockey, like my son, there is so much around that. You can see the bobsledding practice runs, ski jumps and shows at the ice arena. If you visit this area seriously take a day and explore Lake Placid.
One other rental you might not know about was bikes. Who knew this was a thing? Yes, I have seen bikes in some beach vacation boardwalks we have been on but never in New York. What a great way to visit the little shops or just buzz around for short jaunt. Great for kids but bring some helmets if you are interested in these.
Have you ever been to the Adirondack Mountains or Saranac New York? I hope you found this “Escape to the Adirondack Mountains” post helpful. We had such a great time it can be so hard to fit everything in one weekend. I will say that is why I love the Saranac area though because it is packed with little things to do and see. Each trip we take up North always is a little bit different.
