Winter break vacation ideas for families anyone? The winter blues have set in and cabin fever has become the norm around here. Each day, I am dreaming of our Winter break vacation, that just will not come soon enough. If you need some great locations to visit with your family I took the liberty of throwing them together within this post for you. When the pandemic hit we did little getaways and Stay cations. Now that travel is opening back up again I felt I could recommend some other places to visit during Winter or Spring Break!
My first suggestion is a trip to Doylestown, Pennsylvania. I was first lured to the area by my son’s love of castles. This one pictured above was built by architect, Henry C. Mercer, the Fonthill Castle. Doylestown, Pennsylvania is a great place to explore with your family. History, hidden gems, museums and one of the largest play areas (Kids Castle in Doylestown) I have seen.
My next Winter break trip suggestion is Saint Simon Island in Georgia. If you are looking for sandy beaches, southern hospitality and sweet tea this my friends is the place for you! Climb the 129 steps to enjoy a 360-degree coastal view from the top of the St. Simon island Lighthouse. Put around on the golf courses or stay at the luxury King and Prince Resort. Wake up to sunshine, beaches or just lay around by the outdoor pools. This are has so much to offer for both adults and kids of all ages!
Want to stay up north for Spring Winter break? Take a trip to the Corning Glass Museum. Set beautifully in the heart of Finger Lakes, the Corning Museum of Glass lets you get in touch with your creative side. Allowing you to explore glass from all angles, educate yourself on timeless pieces, view live glass blowing demonstrations and appreciate art that is geared to all ages.
When I post my article: “9 Kid Friendly Activities in Las Vegas” a few years back so many people commented how they had no idea Vegas had so much to offer. While My family and I have only ever travel there during off-season I can tell you it is one of our favorite places to vacation. Each trip can be so much different from the last because the area has so much to offer. From gondola rides, museums, Vegas strip attractions, shows to hiking the mountains at their State Parks.
Saint Augustine, Florida is one of the very first places I ever really traveled to. I have came back with my family to escape the winter many times over the years. From historic museums to ghost tours, Saint Augustine, Florida there is truly something for everyone! Each time we visit we fall in love with this historic city. Every visit a place like that?
The Smoky Mountains have such a special place in my heart. We literally threw a physical dart at the map and this was the area it landed. This little gem has became quite the big touristy town today but worth a family getaway. The area has so much to offer guests (visiting Ripley’s Aquarium in the Smokies for example) I will say the Mountains are by far still our favorite part when traveling to Tennessee.
Another hidden gem, not as well known as other Winter Break destination would be a stay at the Stonewall Resort Roanoke in West Virginia. Imagine a place that you can relax, recharge while taking in beautiful scenery. They have boardwalks, hiking trails, activities and even a boat excursion to enjoy. Pack your bags and just go and relax, recharge and make memories here! They even light fires outdoors so you can enjoy their smore’s kits!
