Who loves some Homemade Bread Bowl with Broccoli Cheese Soup? I love whipping up a batch of some warm soup. Personally, I struggle with the consistency of soup. Just think of me as the “bear” in the old nursery rhymes that likes it “JUST right” (not to thick, not too watery). What you will need for the homemade bread bowls:
2 dry yeast packets
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup warm water
4 1/2 cups of bread flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup milk
3 1/2 tbsp butter, melted
2 eggs (beaten)
2 dry yeast packets
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup warm water
4 1/2 cups of bread flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup milk
3 1/2 tbsp butter, melted
2 eggs (beaten)
Place the yeast and 2 tsp. of the sugar in a bowl, then pour in water. Leave for a few minutes or until it froths. Place flour, remaining sugar and salt in a bowl and mix well. Next, add milk, butter, eggs to the yeast mixture. Cover the bowl and let your dough sit.
What you will need for the soup:
3 Tbsp Olive Oil
1 Small onion
2 Tbsp Onions
2 cloves Garlic (minced)
1/2 lb. Broccoli or 1 bag
1/4 cup Flour
1 cup Milk
1/2 cup shredded cheese
1 cup Half n Half
Pinch of Salt and Pepper to taste
3 Tbsp Olive Oil
1 Small onion
2 Tbsp Onions
2 cloves Garlic (minced)
1/2 lb. Broccoli or 1 bag
1/4 cup Flour
1 cup Milk
1/2 cup shredded cheese
1 cup Half n Half
Pinch of Salt and Pepper to taste
Move onto making the soup! Add onion, garlic to a pan over high heat with some Olive oil. Once they are lightly browned add flour, milk, broccoli, shredded cheese and half n half lowering the temperature to a simmer.
Cut dough into roll sizes for your bread bowls. Place on an oven sheet and bake until cook thoroughly. I like to brush the outsides with melted butter for that golden brown coloring! After they bake, push down the center of the roll to create a “bowl”. Next place the soup inside. Sprinkle some shredded cheese on top and serve!
