Setting Intentions not Resolutions in 2020

Most people make “Resolutions” with each coming year. Often times, I have fell into this almost bleak trap of goal setting. While I want to accomplish the resolutions I have set, they seem to fizzle out before January is over with. I think Carrie Underwood posted it best last week: “Set Intentions not Resolutions”. Over the past month, we have experimented with several different products to reach our goals. These products pictured above have become part of our daily regimens and really held up.

In the morning we have Green Giant Cauliflower Veggie Hash Browns

For workouts we been using:

Gold Standard Whey Powder- we have the double chocolate flavor but you can pick others to fit your taste.

Amino Energy Fruit Fusion- ours is grape flavored ( again choose your preference)

We also switched our son’s vitamin supplements to L’il Critters Children’s Gummy Vitamins

I found all of these at our local Walmart if you are interested in any of them!

I’ve partnered with Green Giant, Optimum Nutrition, vitafusion and L’il Critters as part of an Influencer Activation and all opinions expressed in my post are my own.

We started off our year by getting meals under control! While we typically eat three meals a day, snacking is our downfall. Also eating sweets at night, right before bed! For mornings, I would completely skip breakfast and load up on creamer with a side of coffee! Now, I make time to grab some breakfast! The Green Giant Veggie Hash Browns boost my nutritional value for breakfast and they are super easy to make on the go before getting my son to school! I can also whip up some for a snack if needed. Changing my eatting times have really stopped all the unnecessary snacking though.

This new Green Giant product line are free of artificial colors, flavors and preservatives! Let me just stop on preservatives for one moment. While you might not be aware they are extremely bad for you along with “Natural Flavors”. I encourage you all to take some time and start reading the labels on your food!

When we first started to really look what was in our food, I was in a bit of shock with all the preservatives, sugars and things I couldn’t pronounce filling my old favorite snacks. Once we started to cut those out of our diet and focus on healthier options, we all started to feel better! We have more energy, stopped feeling sluggish throughout the day which encouraged us to keep going.

I mentioned earlier we also swapped out our son’s vitamins! I have discussed in great length about his sugar intolerance. We monitor his diet because if he has to much sugar his little body can’t break things down. It causes a lot of issues we want to avoid. Little did I know the old vitamins we were giving him housed a TON of sugars!!

If you take one thing away from this article, let it be this: READ LABELS!! Give your children the nutrients they need without anything extra – no artificial sweeteners or flavors, high-fructose corn syrup, synthetic dyes, or gluten or dairy!

The L’il Critters Children’s Gummy Vitamins fit our needs and he loves the taste! Having them come in Jurassic Word characters was just an added bonus.

Next, I set out to tone my body up a bit. Nothing drastic because I don’t really want to lose a ton of weight! I know some of you might not be where I personally and that’s ok! Like I said, I have made intentions to change my lifestyle to a healthier one. I  personally am recovering from a major surgery so I need to take it easier then perhaps others who are my body type. In previous years I wanted to make these changes but never seemed to get myself motivated to actually do them. I decided to break each change down. I knew I wanted to tone up so I decided, ok by this date, I was going to sign up for a gym membership.

TIP: If you lack motivation break it down and accomplish your goals, step by step. Instead of making huge leaps you won’t stick with.

Gosh, a gym membership alone was pretty intimidating. My spouse and I both were a bit skeptical. Would we “find the time” or really “use it”? I am happy to report after a month we are both pleasantly surprised by how much it has become a joyful part of our daily routines. In fact, when I skip a day (say due to my son having holidays at school) I actually miss my workout. CRAZY!!

I had no idea even how to work out or what I would need. My body hasn’t ever done this so I leaned on others to help me get started. Replenishing your body is vital! Gold Standard Whey is an essential protein source to help you meet daily protein requirements. It packs 24g of Protein (primary source : Whey Protein Isolate –meaning much of the carbs and fat have been “isolated” out of the product) has only 120 Calories and is gluten free! I simply whip up a drink after a workout. They have other flavor options so try and get one that fits your personal taste.

I am not quite ready for Amino Energy but my spouse uses this! It offers a combination of 5 grams of Amino Acids and 100 grams of Caffeine to promote a healthy lifestyle by supporting energy, focus and muscle recovery. It’s easy to control the intensity of the product by dialing up or down the number of scoops to fit your needs.

Since starting our journey of a healthier lifestyle, I have to say we really see a difference. I know many people show “before and after” photos but it is so much more than inches and pounds! We are much more active. I won’t lie we still eat out but it is nothing like it was. Since we broke down our resolutions into step by step intentions we have stuck with them!

That is such a great idea to set intentions rather than resolutions. It feels way less defeating when you don't accomplish them fully. And it seems to take the pressure off a bit.

I'm more of a goal setter than a resolution maker. I sit down and set big overall goals, with "sub-goals" that lead up to the ultimate objective.

Intentions sounds a lot better than resolutions. I got away from doing resolutions a while ago. To me goals are more in line with my ideals.

I love the idea of setting intentions. This year I simply set spiritual goals & blog goals. So far, I'm sticking to the plan. Yay!

I like the idea of setting intentions. I used to have goals and found out that I too have a hard time accomplish them. My intention this year is also to eat healthy.
