We have really been trying to get outside and enjoy the Fall leaves.
A few years back I created a great Fall game for us to play, a Scavenger Hunt.
What you need:
An excited, fun loving child
Ziploc bag
A notebook to write the Alphabet on
Set out to find things Fall related and collect them in your bag. His first item was a yellow Leaf. You simply place it in the bag and write “Leaf” next to the letter “L” since it starts with an “L”. This teaches children to learn as they play this game.
The first time we played I decided to add the “no living” things in the bag rule! When out you might also see cigarette buds, not something I think you want children picking up, so add rules for those as well!
Also teach them not to touch things that could cause them harm. Education can happen around ever corner. There is so much to learn and teach little ones these days. We always find several Fall things. At first my son didn’t understand the game but picked it up quickly.
Do you make up fun games to play with your little one’s??
Looks like fun. My granddaughter, sitting on my lap, likes the dandelion the best.
I love this. You rock!!!
I love this idea! I think I will try it with my Godson – sounds like something right up his alley!!
Great idea! I am going to conform it for my first grader grandson. I might put the names of items on the list so he can sound the out and read them.
This is a fantastic idea. We have summer holidays coming up in Australia, so I will keep this as a great idea to do with my four year old. Thank you. Amanda HelmiBM
How fun!! We do stuff like this when we go camping every year!! It's so fun!!!
