Not often do I come across a place I have never heard of before. In my job you never really know what kind of places you are going to visit. On our first trip to Altoona PA our host mentioned Delgrossos Amusement Park. A family friendly place that we had to come back and visit the next time we were in town. Like I said earlier, you just never know what kind of a place people are sending us too! We were so pleasantly surprised on our day at the Delgrossos Amusement Park my fingers can barely contain themselves as I type this review.
We got a little sneak peek of the park before it opened along with meeting one of the owners. This place is set in a remote location, which happens to be my photography haven (look at those rolling hills). You can easily find the location, just type in the address to your GPS and they even offer FREE parking!
We had a locker rental which was a great investment if you are going to enjoy the park. I could store our dry clothes, sunscreen, shoes and phones easily. They have a few different sizes and they are all day rentals not just a one time locker ;). The park opens at 10 am but I would recommend getting there a few minutes early to get a locker. Did I mention kids can get a life vest if you want for free!
Water is a nice temperature especially on these hot days.
Bring sunscreen because you can get burnt!!
The Water park has outdoor water slides, a wave pool and kids area. The wrist bands get you into both the water park and amusement ride area. I was comparing prices with other parks in our area, these are so much more affordable! I would post the rates but they will change depending on when you read this post…
Money Saving Tip: Check out some of the Delgrosso products (pasta sauce for example) because they have coupons on the back of them!
People always ask if it worth the drive, or price….YES! This place was so much larger than I was expecting and what you get is worth it. The memories we made were worth the drive alone!
Can I talk about the food? They are an Italian family who bought this place on a hand shake, so of course you are going to find some Italian food throughout BOTH parks. #YUM The Buffalo Chicken Stromboli, hands down one of my favorite of all time!! I am not alone because they were up for a viewers choice award for the best Stromboli in Pennsylvania while we were visiting. Nothing like the Food Network filming while you are visiting. #lifegoals
My son LOVES Mac-n-Cheese so of course we had to try that as well. I can sum it up for you in two words: Homemade perfection. A slice of pizza was around $2.50…affordable!
After a full afternoon in the Water park, we headed over to the other park.
I wish when we visited it was not as hot because by the time we went over to ride some of the rides it was baking HOTT.
The train ride was a nice escape in the shade. We also enjoyed a little go around the bumper car track.
I would recommend getting your kid(s) height measured at the front visitor office before trying to ride rides. They give them a sticker on their wrist band so the ride operators do not have to measure them. This saves time in the lines and makes the operators job much easier.
My final thoughts: Would I visit again? Absolutely! My family truly loved our time here and are already planning our next trip.
Is it worth the money for families? 100% YES!
Should you try the food?? If you do not try their food you are MISSING OUT!
