While in Pigeon Forge, TN we decided to stop at some “new” attractions.
New to us, since the last time we visited was around 3-4 years ago!
Our first stop was the Alcatraz East Crime Museum. Mac was a bit unsure because when you look at the outside it was built to resemble an actual prison.
Try explaining to an 8 year old that he is not REALLY going to jail, Ekkk!
However, once inside he started to calm down a bit. Plus, after seeing the first display case housing Blackbeard’s collection he was won over!! Something about pirates just had him excited to explore.
If you are bringing a family to the Museum they have several interactive things for kids to do… or adults.
They also have some seek and find items as well. I loved seeing the different things personally and through my son’s point of view.
The Crime lab…was straight out of an NCIS episode…OK maybe not EXACTLY but in my mind that is where I went. It was such a cool, interactive area that had all my crime fighting juices flowing.
We even attempted this fun finger print matching game. Seriously, it is so much harder than it looks. I could sit and play all day trying to master this baby!
You walk through several cold and famous cases throughout the years. I skipped some of the heavier serial killer stuff because little man was with us. While some kids do extremely well and he is not squeamish by any means I didn’t like the idea of placing some of the fears/pictures in his still innocent mind. Personally, I find all crime fighting cases fascinating!
I also thought it was fitting they honored our Service members. While I know some appreciate the men/women in uniform we sometimes forget to…
Our opinions of the Alcatraz East Crime Museum in Pigeon Forge, TN?? Out of all of the things we ended up doing this was by far the best! It was something we all genuinely have a passion and interest for. We learned so much and the gift shop was awesome (if you get some NCIS shirts in our sizes please send some up to New York)! I felt the admission price was very competitive and you could easily spend hours in the Museum (not that you have too but there is a bunch to see/do). We would absolutely visit again when in town hands down!
Would you visit the Alcatraz East Crime Museum?
Raise of hands who enjoys NCIS, Criminal Minds, Law & Order or any crime fighting show?? {[Let us know in the Comments]}
I absolutely love unique and bizare musuems! I laughed so hard when you said you had to explain to an 8 year old that he is not really going to jail LOL After that you seem to have had an awesome time guys!
I visited the museum right after it opened. I thought it was fascinating – and definitely a little creepy. I liked all the law enforcement exhibits and activities since they showed these famous criminals didn't get away with their crimes.
I am all over crime shows so this is right up my alley! How cool is that crime lab? I can spend hours here for sure.
We vacationed there some years ago and had a GREAT time! Love the photos!
Oohh..that's an interesting place. I'd love to go to museums..now if only there are great museums in my area. Btw, great photos!
What an interesting museum idea! I would totally go, I love when museums have interactive aspects and lots of fun things.
This looks like a fun and interesting museum!
Oh how fun…it looks like you had a great time. This is definitely an interesting place and a fun spot to visit.
That museum looks like a blast! Im glad you had fun.
I have family in Tennessee but have yet to visit Pigeon Forge. Looks like such a cool place to check out. I'll have to keep it in mind next time I am close by!
