Have you seen a bunch of painted rock photos flood your Facebook Feed? At first I saw a few here, there and thought that looks like fun. After which I saw a friend of mine post a photo in a Facebook Group. I was curious and joined the group. What I found was the Kindness Rock Challenge. Now we are hooked!
Basically, families paint rocks, hide them around different parks, venues and shops. Other families hunt for the hidden treasures. After which many rocks have a hashtag or tag to share on social media.
This way you can see how far the rocks travel.
Take a rock when you need it
Share a rock with a friend
Add a rock to keep the rock hunt alive.
After a few days of reading up on this wonderful activity we took to picking out and painting our own rocks! I searched Facebook groups for Rocks and found hundreds of different groups to choose from. Several locations where you can post your finds or post rocks you have hide!
Each one different and for both adults and kids!
Half the fun for me is hiding them. The fun for my kiddo is finding them. Whatever you like better, this free activity, is fun for adults and kids alike.
Each rock we painted has our social media user tag (@WesternNewYorker).
This way if you do find them you can tag us (Please TAG us we want to see them travel)!
I also leave clues where the rock locations are on Instagram stories.
I just think it adds to the fun.
After a full day of hiding rocks, my son finally found his first rock.
I have to say this one was rather clever!
What kind of rock would you paint??
Do you have a Rock group in your area?
How sweet beautiful paintings and I love that this is all about kindness and bringing the community together thank you for sharing ❤
Found the rainbow rock with my grandkids this morning! It will be traveling across the country!
My boys and I would have fun painting these rocks. I remember as a kid selling rocks that we painted.
That's so much fun! My family would go crazy for that, I'll pass it on.
These rocks are so pretty! I really like the creativity involved. I wish I can paint like that. The egg ones is my favorite.
I keep seeing posts about the kindness rock challenge. I have plans to make rock Jack o' lanterns with my kiddos this fall!
I am excited to join the Kindness Rock Challenge. I think it is a fantastic idea. We have a bunch of rocks already that I can paint.
