Reasons to Explore Put in Bay Ohio. We started our adventure on the Jet Express in Ohio. Since we had stayed on Kelleys island we have to travel to Put-in Bay by waterway. Looking back we wished we had stay on Put-in-Bay island itself. There was so much to see that we wished we had more than a day to do it all. The Jet Express got us there in no time at all and went by some great sights just exciting us to get on the island and explore. Since we had never been I want to share some things I wish I had known going into this trip. I also want to share why this would be a great Spring/Summer trip for your family! First up if you do want to stay on the island choose from Bed & breakfasts, cottages, hotels, condos or camp!
**I received a free tickets to facilitate some of my review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC Regulations.
As you come into port you will see the Perry’s Victory & International Peace Memorial. You can do a tour but we just did not have time this visit.
The island is not very large and you could walk most of it but I decided to save on our feet. We had tickets for the train so we decided to start there. I will say after we got used to the island we did end up renting a golf cart and buzz around on that for the remainder of the day.
If you have never been taking a guided tour is always a plus. We learned so much and we could hop on and off the different stops. This was great especially with a little one in tow.
Check out some of the sights! My mom loves lighthouses so I had to snap a few pictures when ever I see one for her! This picture was snapped from the train while we were on the tour.
Once we got to the Perry’s Cave and Butterfly house we decided to hop off and explore. I love these butterfly exhibits. This particular one was very clean and we saw so many species while inside.
The underground caves were not as exciting as the Butterfly house in my opinion but my son loved them both equally. They also have a Antique car museum that was pretty darn awesome.
So many Model T to look at. If you have a car enthusiast take a stroll around it!!
Have you ever heard of the lock bridge? I have always wanted to do it. They also have a similar one only it is located on the fence by this beautiful boat encased in the side of the island.
I bought two locks at the local hardware store along with a sharpie. We wrote our names and added them to the many that were on the fence already. Saving the key for the next time we visit! My son loved this and it was very inexpensive to do!
The island is a great place for adults only trips or with your family. They have shops, restaurants, wineries, parks you name it. I could have easily spent a week here, just taking it all in.
We most certainly will be back to explore and hope this Reasons to Explore Put in Bay Ohio post was helpful!
