Weekend in NYC

Small trips have really taken over our Summer this year. Getting out of town for a weekend can be so relaxing and fun I truly recommend it! I had some work to do in the city which is about 6 hours from where we live. Such a trip can take a toll if you are not prepared! Here are some great suggestions for a weekend in NYC.

When I stay for an extended period I often stay in surrounding areas (Secaucus, NJ) and then ride the tram or train in town. This helps save money on accommodations and we do not have to drive in downtown NYC. Since this was a short trip I decided to stay near my work and any activities we would be doing. Try the Library hotel! It is conveniently located near Bryant Park, the library and a short walk to Broadway and Times Square! They are stacked with books, offer complimentary breakfast and are an overall luxury experience for those long walking days whilst in the city.

Visit Bryant Park! I never realized just how many wonderful activities they have for all ages. From yoga, Zumba to free concerts in the evening time. I also found Harry Potter Quidditch games for my son who is a DIE hard fan. We just searched Evenbrite and signed up!

Check out the NEW Ghostbusters Experience at Madame Tussaud’s. Even if you are not a fan of the new movie this experience is worth a visit. You become a virtual character using the Ghost hunting equipment and blast your way through a haunted apartment. This takes video games to a whole new level! The exhibit itself is extremely lifelike as you walk through a subway venturing to the Etco-2. My family enjoyed this experience so much that I had to mention it!

I have visited the city so many times the list of places to stop and grab a bite are endless. I wanted to include a new place we found on this trip! Bread & Tulips was located by one of my work venues so we enjoy lunch here. I love the modern industrial flare décor which is both inviting and appealing. The food is very formal and I would recommend the Steak Tagliata. This steak melts in your mouth paired with fresh breads and impeccable wait staff. If you are need of a new place to eat try this one out I truly believe it is a hidden gem.

A weekend goes by so fast and it really is hard to fit everything in to one quick visit. We stopped by the harbor and saw Lady Liberty as my son calls her from afar. Someday I will actually see her up close but even just soaking in some of the sights from afar can be fun. We did not have to wait in lines or battle traffic. Wear walking shoes! I may have forgotten mine and boy did my feet pay the price!
