While in Las Vegas we decided to visit some surrounding landmarks. We ventured to the historical Hoover Dam.
In the early 20th century, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation devised plans for a massive dam on the Arizona-Nevada border to tame the Colorado River and provide water and hydroelectric power for the developing Southwest.
As you walk out of the parking area you see the amount of power and shear talent it took to complete this massive Dam.
Choose to walk along yourself or purchased a guided tour of the Hoover Dam and Museum.
The largest dam in the world at the time of its completion in 1935, this National Historic Landmark stores enough water in Lake Mead to irrigate 2 million acres and serves as a popular tourist destination.
The water as you can see has dropped and boy is it a scenic beauty!
The dam is 726.4 feet from foundation rock to the roadway on the crest of the dam. The towers and ornaments on the parapet rise 40 feet above the crest.
Every angle is a panoramic beauty.
Stop and capture a few photos while you are there!
They also have a Cafe and gift shop.
We paid $10 to park at the Hoover Dam itself.
It is well work the money to walk around and enjoy the views.
Beautiful place, and photos too ๐
Beautiful pictures. Would love to see it in person one day.
WE loved the Dam tour. My husband owns a mini hydro plant and just had to see how it all worked.
You really captured the depth and beauty.
Great shots, hoping to get there in person to see it all this summer! #PhotoFriday
Been there several times and love it.
When I took visitors to Vegas, I always take them here. They all love it.
Wow – so much beauty!
