Visiting Lake Mead Nevada? It is no secret I travel, a lot! I have been to almost the entire United States in the last year alone. Last week, I had the pleasure of adding another few states and cities to that long list of places I have traveled. Las Vegas, Nevada is give or take a three day drive from my home so flying was really my option of choice. I enjoyed almost a week in the Mazda 6 and it was nothing but luxury. On my fist official day I drove it out to Lake Mead to see what this little hot car could do!
Think dessert lands for miles and then BAM mountains! Curvy roads mixed with high cliffs and boulders throughout the little towns.
Lake Mead was a short distance from Las Vegas. It is located near a small little town, Boulder City which I would also recommend a visit to. If you enjoy breath taking sights of landscape this fits the bill.
We enjoyed a morning/afternoon exploring, walking and driving around this area.
Out of my entire trip I would say the mountains were by far my favorite. They are so unexpected in this flat, FLAT, did I mention VERY flat dessert area?
I would recommend you use a GPS to locate some of these amazing lookout points. The local “Welcome/tourist” centers were not open when we visited (on Saturday) so this came in handy. The Mazda 6, we rented, had one centrally located and was a built in feature. My only complaint is the passenger could not operate the GPS while I drove.
Just remember to pull over and input your directions. I would also recommend turning up the brightness on the screen as well. In Nevada the sunshine pretty much blinds everything. After a full day of exploring it was time to head back to the city.
At the end of my trip it was extremely hard to hand the keys back! I love zooming up and down the strip of Las Vegas showing off this hottie! Whether you are a sports vehicle fanatic or just a everyday driver, I believe you would enjoy a spin in a Mazda 6.
Don’t just take my word for it, go visit Lake Mead Nevada!
Love that shot of the side mirror! Great post!
What a great car to enjoy those beautiful views in

I have have been to Hoover Dam several times but other from that I have not explored the lake. I would like to take a boat around it and do some hiking on the area.
There is something about that area of the country, isn't there? I spent a lot of time in Northern Nevada, but only as I started leaving NV that I started to explore the southern part of the state. Beautiful.
