Desert Garden in Balboa Park, CA

I landed in San Diego, dropped my luggage off and decided to get right to exploring! I drove the rental to a local area with free parking and inviting gardens, Balboa Park.

Walking through the Spanish inspired buildings to a few gardens I heard were worth the walk.

My reward of walking was welcomed by these gigantic trees.

They have a rose garden located near the Desert garden but I was drawn to the cacti. They have over 1,300 plants, including succulents and drought-resistant plants from around the world, within its 2.5 acres.

I even called my Mom to share in my excitement!

It was a rather warm day coming it at 100 degrees, I tool a rest under this terrace located in the Rose Garden.

The views of the Mexico Mountains were breath taking and I was memorized by their beauty.

I would recommend a visit to these gardens and views!

What a great place! I love to spend time in places like that – we have the Crosby Arboretum near us and it provides us with a variety of landscapes to explore.

Thanks for sharing with us at Photo Friday!
