Watch my whole journey through this quick video above. I have to say it was a challenging 10 days to go without shoes. Luckily, the weather held up for most of it and I was blessed with rain on only one day. The things I experienced can really be found below on each daily excerpt. I tried to write down and catalog everything for those of you who followed my journey and wanted to see what happened.
Day 1: I stared my challenge off barefoot…. Find out all about how that went here.
Day 2: We dropped Mac off to school, without shoes. I went to stores, a friends
for coffee, office without shoes. I wanted to really have the
experiences of what it is like. Find out how that went over here.
Day 3 & 4: I am pretty sure my feet have calluses the size of Texas and I barely feel a thing now! Check out how these two days went here.
Day 5 & 6:On these two days I found the CURE to eliminate all shoe-less people in the world….” I look at stores and think you have isles of shoes for sale, I bet if
every store in the world contributed 1 pair of shoes to those in need we
could cure the shoeless across the nations! Just food for thought”. Read about it here.
Day 7, 8 & 9: These were my most trying days of this challenge. I was becoming resentful because I wanted to go and do things but was limited by my lack of shoes. Not to mention my back pain was horrific these days, seehere.
Day 10: My final thoughts of this challenge.. The day I woke up and this challenge was done was a HUGE relief. I learned a lot about myself through this. The Author who inspired me to take these challenges this year asked “Have I found it to be rewarding”? My answer was at first HA, NO! My fee & back hurt all I want is shoes…. but then I really thought about it and came up with this. I was representing a portion of those without footwear. I am blessed with shoes and the money to purchase new ones if I need too (thank Goodness!). We as a society need to be an example for others. A beacon for light and love. I helped a small fraction of the population but what I gain from this experience will stay with me for years to come. Compassion, empathy, respect and understanding. These are things my son and those around me will see through me. I hope you all enjoyed this little walk with charity event and I will see you next month with yet another one!
I don't think I'd last more than an hour or two walking on pavement without shoes. Too many things to cut up my feet!
As a child, I would go all summer long without shoes. It was freedom to me then. I don't often think of those who go without because they have no alternative. Congratulations on completing the challenge and raising awareness.
That is a really neat "adventure" for charity! I don't wear shoes too much, but that would be a challenge even for me! 🙂
I always went without shoes
Congrats on completing this!!!
