Make your own Granola Bars
What you will need:
1/2 cup butter (be sure to use regular butter and not margarine)
1/2 cup honey
2/3 cup brown sugar
4 cups quick cooking oats ( I used Aldi brand)
2 cups rice cereal ( I used store brand)
1 teaspoon vanilla
Toppings are your choice:
We used chocolate chips, raisins, dried cranberries & cashews
In
a large bowl, stir oats and rice cereal together. Set aside. In a
medium pot, melt butter, honey and brown sugar together over medium high
heat. Let it start to bubble. Reduce heat and cook and stir for 2
minutes. Add vanilla and stir. Pour over dry mixture and mix well until
all ingredients are incorporated. Pour into a 13×9 baking dish that has
been sprayed well with cooking spray or olive oil. Press down really
well until the top is flat. Sprinkle with desired toppings.
Press
toppings into granola mixture.
Cool on counter top for 15-20 minutes. Place granola in fridge for 20-25 minutes. Cut into bars & store.
We use snack size Ziploc bags for lunches!
Yum!! I need to make these. We have a nut allergy at my house so I am always hesitant to buy granola bars. These look great! Thanks.
Love it! Thanks for linking up to Creative K Kids Tasty Tuesday party. I've pinned your recipe to our Pinterest board. We hope you'll join us again tomorrow!
