Today Marks Day 1 of my Coat drive:
Hi my name is Liz from the Western New Yorker blog and I’m going 10 days without a coat for the homeless people in my town. For the next 10 days I will be coatless, no exceptions. Ten days. No coat. Starts now….
I took the Closet Challenge and I encourage you too. You don’t have to film it but just do it for some laughs and to see how much you have in your closet.
Pull out all of your coats and then try wearing them all on, at the same time!
” Be the Change you want to see in the world”.. I will be going 10 days without a coat (as part of a challenge inspired by 10dayswithout.com) to help raise awareness & donations to The Gateway Center. They provide clothing, coats, furniture, appliances and pretty much anything one needs. They don’t give hand outs but rather hand ups to help people get back on their feet and stay sustained to then live on their own without public assistance.
Nothing donated will be put into a land fill but rather given away to those in need!

If you wish to donate but do not have any coats you may also send a monetary donation by clicking the button below. All proceeds go directly to The Helping Hands Center. Check them out here.
What an awesome way to bring awareness.

What a great idea! You've inspired me to go through my closets and get a donation together. I've been meaning to do it for months – now is the time! Thanks for the push!
Your idea is creative and brilliant! 🙂
I just recently donated a ton of coats that we had hanging in the closet and weren't using anymore. This is a great idea!
A good reminder to get those coats donated that we're not using. I have a few!
What a wonderful thing to do! I regularly donate all our unused clothing to our local thrift shop and churches. I would love to see a program around here that would give the items away for free to those in need. Some people just can't afford it no matter how cheap.
I have so many coats my children have outgrown. I need to get those out and donate them!
